Όψεις του Φανταστικού

Μετά από δέκα χρόνια στο χώρο του animation, το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινούμενων Σχεδίων Υπαίθρου βρίσκεται στην ευχάριστη θέση να μοιράζεται πλέον την πείρα του με το ανανεωμένο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Μικρού Μήκους της Κύπρου σε ένα ειδικά διαμορφωμένο παράλληλο πρόγραμμα. Οι «Όψεις του Φανταστικού» είναι όλα όσα αγαπήσαμε στο πιο ευέλικτο κινηματογραφικό είδος του κόσμου και όλα όσα αποδεικνύουν πόσο ανεπαρκής είναι τελικά ο Ελληνικός όρος «κινούμενα σχέδια». Από φουριόζικα cut-outs και αξιαγάπητες πλαστελίνες μέχρι χειροποίητο phonovideo και ανατριχιαστικές stop motion μαριονέτες, ένας νέος γενναίος κόσμος ανοίγεται μπροστά μας όπου όλα κινούνται, και πιο πολύ απ’ όλους η φαντασία των δημιουργών. Η επίλεκτη ομάδα που απαρτίζει τις «Όψεις του Φανταστικού» διαθέτει διακεκριμένους τίτλους όπως το Οσκαρικό «The Lost Thing» των Andrew Ruhemann και Shaun Tan, αλλά και το πρώτο animation στην καριέρα του πολυμήχανου Spike Jonze (βλέπε «Στο Μυαλό του Τζον Μάλκοβιτς»). Κυρίως όμως περιέχει εγχώριο ταλέντο χάρη στον Ελληνοκύπριο Christopher Kezelos, που εκπλήσσει ευχάριστα με το γοτθικών προδιαγραφών «The Maker»,  αλλά και έναν ακόμα Έλληνα που κρύβεται πίσω από το Σουηδέζικο όνομα Mario Adamson και το αξιαγάπητο «I Am Round». Ελπίζοντας η πρώτη κοινή εξερευνητική μας αποστολή στη ζούγκλα του animation να ταξιδέψει το κοινό όπως ταξίδεψε κι εμάς, σας προσκαλούμε να απολαύσετε την αρχή μιας όμορφης συνεργασίας που ελπίζουμε να κρατήσει χρόνια...


Aspects of the fantastic

After ten glorious years on the animation scene, the Countryside Documentary & Animated Film Festival is happy to finally share its hard-earned experience with the new and improved International Short Film Festival of Cyprus in a specially designed sidebar. “Aspects of the fantastic” is everything we grew to love about the most multifaceted genre in the world, offering unshakeable proof that its Greek translation (moving sketches) does nothing if not shortchange it. From frantic cutouts and adorable play dough figures to handmade phonovideo and creepy puppets, everything in this colorful program is hyperactive, including the directors’ imaginations! This handpicked selection includes celebrated titles, like Oscar-winner “The Lost Thing” by Andrew Ruhemann and Shaun Tan, as well as Spike Jonze’s (Being John Malkovich) very first foray into the animation jungle. But, most importantly, it includes homegrown talent courtesy of Greek-Cypriot Christopher Kezelos’ “The Maker” as well as closet Greek Mario Adamson, the man behind Swedish production “I Am Round”. Hoping our first joint expedition into animation-land will be just adventurous for you as it was for us, we invite you to enjoy the first edition of what we hope to be a long-standing collaboration.
